Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup whole milk

3 large eggs

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp salt

Food coloring (red, orange, yellow for sunset effect)

1 cup whipped cream (for frosting)

Fresh fruits (like berries) for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.

Divide the batter into three bowls. Color the first bowl with red food coloring, the second with orange, and leave the third one yellow.

Pour the colored batter into the prepared cake pans, layering them like a sunrise.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Once cooled, frost with whipped cream and decorate with fresh fruits to mimic a beautiful sunset.
