Ingredients

1 cup of egg whites (about 8-10 large eggs)

1 cup of granulated sugar

1 cup of all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon of salt

2 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1 cup of whipped cream

Additional strawberries for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine the egg whites and cream of tartar. Using a mixer, beat the egg whites until frothy.

Gradually add sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

Gently fold in the flour, salt, and vanilla extract until just combined.

Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the cake is set and lightly golden.

Invert the cake onto a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before removing from the pan.

Once cooled, slice the cake and layer with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Serve with additional strawberries on top for garnish, and enjoy your delightful dessert!
