Spritz cookies boast a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century in Germany. The name "spritz" comes from the German word "spritzen," which means "to squirt" or "to spray"—a nod to the method of shaping these cookies using a cookie press. Traditionally, spritz cookies were made during festive seasons, especially during Christmas, when families would come together to bake and create beautiful cookie assortments.
