Ingredients
  

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

A pinch of salt

Colorful sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions
 

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

    Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

      In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

        Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

          Divide the dough into two portions. Roll each portion into a log about 2 inches in diameter.

            Wrap the logs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

              Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                Remove the dough from the fridge and slice into 1/4 inch thick cookies.

                  Place the cut cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

                    Add colorful sprinkles on top of each cookie if desired.

                      Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges turn golden.

                        Let cool on a wire rack before enjoying your sweet heart-shaped delights!
