Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cocoa powder (for chocolate cupcakes)

Red food coloring (optional, for a pink hue)

Heart-shaped sprinkles (for decoration)

Cream cheese frosting or your favorite frosting

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tray with paper liners.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, (and cocoa powder if making chocolate cupcakes).

Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.

For a fun twist, add a few drops of red food coloring to make the batter pink, then fold gently.

Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.

Frost with cream cheese frosting or your preferred icing and decorate with heart-shaped sprinkles.
