Ingredients

12 lasagna noodles

2 cups ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cups marinara sauce

1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Boil the Noodles: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef or sausage and cook until browned. Season with oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Mix the Cheeses: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.

Assemble the Layers: In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat with another layer of meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture. Top with the remaining noodles, meat sauce, and sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Let the lasagna cake cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
