Ingredients

9 lasagna noodles

1 pound ground beef

1 pound ground Italian sausage

2 cups marinara sauce

15 ounces ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and lay them flat on a towel.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Stir in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until blended.

In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom.

Layer three lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, and then more meat sauce. Repeat the layering process twice.

Top the final layer with the remaining lasagna noodles, the rest of the meat sauce, and the final cup of mozzarella cheese.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and enjoy!
