Ingredients

1 pound spaghetti

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant but not browned (about 1 minute).

Stir in the halved cherry tomatoes and sauté until they burst and soften, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet along with the reserved pasta water, basil, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together until well combined.

Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary and add lemon zest for a refreshing twist.

Serve immediately, garnished with extra basil and Parmesan if desired.
