Ingredients

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 package (10 oz.) marshmallows or 4 cups mini marshmallows

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Red and pink food coloring (optional)

Heart-shaped cookie cutter

Sprinkles (optional)

Wax paper for cooling

Instructions

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.

If desired, add a few drops of red and pink food coloring to the melted mixture for a festive hue.

Remove the mixture from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until well coated.

Lightly butter a baking dish or line it with wax paper. Press the mixture firmly into the dish to create an even layer.

Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes before using a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes.

Place the hearts on a platter and decorate with sprinkles, if desired.

Let the hearts cool completely before serving.
