Ingredients
  

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Oil for frying

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

    In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, beaten egg, and melted butter until combined.

      Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

        Roll the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick; cut into squares or rectangles.

          Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).

            Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

              Once cooled, glaze the beignets with your favorite mixture of powdered sugar and warm water or milk. Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving.
