Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 1/4 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!

If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy your fudgy, chewy brownies!
