Ingredients

1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon lemon juice

4 slices of thick bread (like brioche or challah)

1 cup of flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1/2 cup milk

1 cup breadcrumbs

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Additional powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Strawberries: In a bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with sugar and vanilla extract. Let sit for about 15 minutes.

Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a separate bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread a generous layer of the cheesecake filling on two slices of bread. Top with a layer of the sugared strawberries, then place the other two slices of bread on top to create sandwiches.

Setup the Dredging Station: In one bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

Coat the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

Fry the Sandwiches: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Serve: Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your delicious creations!
