Ingredients

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon rum extract (or eggnog extract)

1 large egg

1 cup eggnog

1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Ground nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.

Mix in the vanilla and rum extracts, followed by the egg. Beat until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the eggnog until the dough is smooth.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Use your thumb to create an indentation in the center of each ball.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. Allow to cool.

Prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle with ground nutmeg.
