Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon sugar

½ cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

¾ cup milk

Optional: shredded cheese, herbs, or spices for flavor

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until combined.

Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if there are some lumps.

If desired, fold in any shredded cheese, herbs, or spices to enhance the flavor.

Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
