Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

4 cups green cabbage, shredded

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Sauté Aromatics: In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Brown the Beef: Push the aromatics to one side of the pan and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Vegetables: Stir in the shredded cabbage and sliced red bell pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the veggies begin to wilt.

Season: Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Sprinkle the five-spice powder, and season with salt and pepper. Toss everything together to coat the ingredients in the sauce.

Final Cook: Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the cabbage to soften slightly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. Top with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
