1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

1 cup finely chopped pistachios (for layering)

1 cup whipped cream (for frosting)

Chocolate shavings (for decoration)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

    In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

      In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.

        Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until smooth.

          Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.

            Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

              Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

                Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

                  Once cool, slice each cake in half horizontally to create layers.

                    Place one layer on a serving plate, spread whipped cream, and sprinkle chopped pistachios.

                      Repeat with remaining layers, finishing with whipped cream on top.

                        Decorate with chocolate shavings and additional pistachios.
