Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 and ½ cups granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 large eggs

½ cup milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup heavy whipping cream

Additional caramel sauce for drizzling

Optional: Sea salt for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of caramel sauce over the top.

Place the second cake layer on top.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the second layer and down the sides of the cake.

Drizzle additional caramel sauce over the whipped cream and sprinkle with sea salt if desired.

Slice, serve, and enjoy your delightful Caramel Cloud Cake!
